The Memorial Tournament

Highlights: Produced by the McConnell Arts Center in coordination with the City of Worthington, this premier Fine Art festival draws 23,000 visitors and more than 110 artists. Red, White & BOOM

Location: Downtown Columbus

Highlights: There are few more patriotic ways to kick off your Independence Day weekend than at the largest fireworks display in Ohio. Red, White & BOOM! is an experience and a tradition for over 400,000 visitors who come together each Independence Day to celebrate the country and the community and to honor our military and veterans. Festivities, like the street festival, start at 11 a.m. and the big show begins at 10 p.m. Plan to be downtown very early because the best spots go fast. Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival 

 Date: September 2, 2024 

Location: Northam Park

Fiery Foods Festival

Highlights: This year, the Fiery Foods Festival returns, and the event will again be donating a portion of its proceeds to the children’s charity CD102.5 For the Kids. Festival-goers sample everything from BBQ to salsa to sweet treats with a kick. Nature and Leisure

Franklin Park Conservatory: Offering lush botanical gardens and glasshouses, this is a green oasis in the city. It’s ideal for a peaceful day out among exotic plants and beautiful landscapes and enjoying a butterfly garden.

Sharon Woods Park:  is a mixture of forests and fields with towering oak, hickory, and beech trees. Located inside the 761-acre park is the Edward Thomas Nature Preserve, named for the renowned Ohio naturalist and one of the founders of the park system.  The park has several trails making it the best place for hiking, walking, jogging, biking, fishing, picnicking, and more. Also, there are several programs during the summer that you can enjoy.

Historical Highlights

Historic German Village:  Historic neighborhood in the south of downtown Columbus. It was settled in the early-to-mid-19th century by a large number of German immigrants, It became a city historic district in 1960 and was also added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and 2007, was made a Preserve America Community by the federal government. Explore this charming district with its preserved brick houses and cobblestone streets,  which offer a glimpse into Columbus’s past

Victorian Village:  It is an established neighborhood built when a streetcar line first ran along Neil Avenue around 1900. To preserve, protect, and enhance the unique architectural and historical features, the Victorian Village Historic District was established in 1973. The neighborhood is known as one of the t top places for Arts and Entertainment, with fun right around the corner in the Short North as its neighborhood hangout.

Italian Village: It is a designated historic district, very well known for its historical and cultural preservation. The building types and architecture in this area reflect Italian influence. Italian Village has the highest home value appreciation in Columbus. The area is part of the Short North/Downtown district area provides access to major employers, cultural and learning institutions, and entertainment venues.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium: Recognized as one of the top zoos in the country, it offers a fun day out with a wide range of animals and themed regions from around the world. The Columbus Zoo is home to more than 7,000 animals representing over 800 species and sees over 2 million visitors annually. The animal exhibits are divided into regions of the world, with the zoo currently operating eight such regions

Franklin Park Conservatory

Begin your Columbus adventure at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.  This great place is not just a garden; it’s beautiful artwork. There is a lot to do at this place surrounded by lush landscapes, with butterflies gardens and exotic plants that look like they’ve stepped out of a fairy tale.  There is also a famous Chihuly exhibition, here you will get an opportunity to enjoy the famous work of Dale Chihuly, an American glass artist, who is well-known in the field of blown glass. German Village

COSI

Easton Town Center

If retail therapy is on your agenda, Easton Town Center won’t disappoint. This open-air shopping has top-notch dining with entertainment and shopping from around the globe. It’s more than a mall; it’s a day out in itself. Here you can enjoy live music and events that are scheduled to keep the whole family entertained. Easton also has some high-end designer stores and fancy restaurants that you can try.
