Trying local cuisine is one of the highlights of travel, but it can be expensive. However, with some clever hacks, you can savor local flavors without breaking the bank.

One of the best tips is to eat where the locals eat. Avoid touristy areas and head to local markets, street food stalls, or neighborhood restaurants to enjoy authentic local dishes at a fraction of the cost.

Staying connected while traveling is essential for many travelers, especially digital nomads. But finding reliable and affordable Wi-Fi can be a challenge. However, with some smart hacks, you can stay connected and productive.

Some of the things you can do are research and choose accommodation with reliable Wi-Fi before booking accommodation, read reviews, and check if reliable Wi-Fi is mentioned. Look for hotels, hostels, or co-working spaces that specifically cater to digital nomads or business travelers.

Use Wi-Fi mapping tools, utilize apps or websites that provide Wi-Fi maps or hotspot locators to find nearby Wi-Fi hotspots in your location you can use tools such as  Wi-Fi Finder, JiWire, and OpenSignal.

Another option is to consider investing in a portable Wi-Fi hotspot device, also known as a MiFi, which allows you to create your own Wi-Fi network using cellular data. This can be particularly useful in areas with limited or unreliable Wi-Fi coverage.

Use  A Virtual Private Network (VPN) encrypts your internet connection and enhances security while using public Wi-Fi networks. It can also help bypass geo-restrictions and access blocked content. Adjust your device’s Wi-Fi settings for optimal performance.

This may include turning off auto-connect to open networks, forgetting and re-connecting to Wi-Fi networks, and disabling Wi-Fi Assist (on iPhones) to prevent cellular data usage.

Keeping your devices and apps up-to-date with the latest software patches and updates can help improve Wi-Fi performance and security. 1. Save money by traveling off season

One of the best things to do to save money when traveling is to consider traveling during the off-season. Traveling during the off-season can often result in lower prices for flights, accommodation, and activities,  plus, you’ll avoid the crowds that come with peak-season travel.

This time many people are not traveling so airlines will still need to keep operating this also goes for hotels. Since there will be no demand they will be forced to reduce the prices to continue being in business.

2. Sign up for newsletters

Signing up for airline or hotel newsletters can help you save. Airlines and hotels often offer exclusive deals and discounts to their email subscribers. By signing up for their newsletters, you’ll be among the first to know about any sales or promotions they’re running. You can grab deals and start planning your next trip

3. Use price comparison sites

When planning your trip, you can browse to see what other sites offer. Don’t make decisions based on one site you visited. Checking out websites like Kayak, Skyscanner, and Google Flights can help you compare prices across multiple airlines and travel dates, allowing you to find the cheapest flights.

On these sites, you can also try to compare your local airports and the nearest airport sometimes it’s cheaper to travel from one airport than another.

For instance; if you live in Columbus, OH  you can find the cheapest flight in Cleveland, Cincinnati, or even Detroit, MI the only catch will be how to get there. If this can save you money, you can take

4. Book in advance

Booking your flights and accommodation well in advance can often save you money, as prices tend to increase as the travel date approaches. Sometimes this can be tricky especially if you have a full-time job and need to schedule vacation time, etc.

5. Budget-friendly accommodation

Instead of splurging on a fancy hotel, consider staying in a hostel, Airbnb, or other budget-friendly accommodation.  Not only will you save money, but you’ll also get a more authentic travel experience.

However this option is not guaranteed, for instance, you might find Airbnb prices higher than hotels so booking Airbnb doesn’t ensure you will get cheaper prices.

When comes to this option my advice will be to look around and compare. You can also visit websites Priceline or hotwire where they have special deals, deals of the day, bidding, etc.

There you can get some 4 or 5  stars hotels on a budget.  The hostel options will not recommend to family travelers because I haven’t seen hostels that are family-friendly and most hostels I feel are for young people.

6. Use public transportation

Instead of taking taxis or renting a car, consider using public transportation to get around. It’s often much cheaper and can help you save money on transportation costs.

Public transportation does not apply in every place. In most big cities like New York or Chicago, public transportation is reliable and affordable, you will save time and money using them.

Also, this can work in Europe because most places in Europe have reliable public transportation, and many people use public transportation than their own transportation.

7. Eat like a local

Instead of eating at expensive touristy restaurants, try local street vendors or markets. Not only will you save money, but you’ll also get a taste of the local cuisine. You can also do one or two meals in a fancy or touristy restaurant for the experience, not every day.

8. Look for free activities, tours and events

Many cities offer free activities, such as museums, parks, and cultural events. Research the destination you’re traveling to and see what free activities are available. Just like restaurants you can pay for those touristy activities or attractions for experiences but make sure you take advantage of free activities.

9. Use travel rewards credit cards

If you have them, travel rewards credit cards can help you earn points or miles that can be redeemed for flights, hotel stays, and other travel expenses. Rewards cards from American Express, Chase, Capital One, etc have those rewards points that are good for travel.

10. Be flexible with your travel plans

Flexibility with your travel dates and destination can often lead to significant savings. By being open to different travel options, you can take advantage of the best deals available. Sites like Google Travel and Sky scanner can show you prices for an entire month, from there you can choose what date and where you wanna go based on the price you like.

The exclusive deals and packages can also include special rates at luxury hotels, resorts, and cruises, as well as added perks like room upgrades, spa treatments, and private tours.

Getting Personalized service/package

A travel agent will go above and beyond to make sure you have a nice experience and they will want to have a positive relationship with you.

They will take the time to understand your travel preferences and create a customized itinerary that fits your needs. For instance, you want to go to a luxurious resort or want to sleep in a luxury hotel.

They will make sure you get it and will try to find a nice package and also do all due diligence.  The travel agent can also help you to plan special events, such as a romantic honeymoon or a milestone anniversary.

Insiders knowledge

Most travel agents often have first-hand knowledge of the destinations and also have a passion for the industry. Most of the properties they recommend are usually able to provide valuable insights because they have been there before etc.  The travel agent can also help you avoid common mistakes and ensure your trip runs smoothly.

Time-saving

As I mentioned before,  planning a luxury trip can be very time-consuming. A travel agent can take care of all the details for you, from booking flights and hotels to arranging transportation and activities/tours. You will not have to worry about spending time planning your trips while you have other things to do.

Guaranteed Support

Other best advantages of using travel agents are they are available 24/7 to help you with any issues that may arise during your trip.

You will not personally deal with hotels or flights when some issues arise. You will not have to deal with being put on hold over the phone for more than 30 minutes to resolve a 5-minute issue.

Travel agents can do that for you and they can get someone faster to resolve that issue because they have some priority access when it comes to that.

Using a travel agent will give you a chance to enjoy your vacation without worrying about any problems.

Access to exclusive tours

Most travel agents have access to exclusive tours, private guides, and other experiences that can add a lot of value to a luxury vacation. Not everyone has experience with these things or has knowledge of their existence.

Travel agents can introduce you to places that you have never been to or heard of and also provide you with options to choose from that can save you time in your busy life schedule.

Cost-effective

Many people assume that using a travel agent will be more expensive, but that’s not necessarily true. Travel agents often have access to special rates and discounts, and can help you find the best deals on flights, hotels, and activities. Travel agents can also help you create a package or bundle you can save more than you think.
